Haleem, is preffered for breaking the fast due to its energizing nature & have a high nutritional value.

Every Ramzan, the city looks a huge jump in the sale of fruits & several varieties of dates, fried items & kababs.

It’s such a craze during the fasting month i.e., trumps filled with Biryani, the Signature dish of Hyderabad.

Its not for just the Muslims but a large amount of customers at popular eateries like Pista House, Shah Ghouse & Sarvi are the non-Muslim.

Originally its an Arabic dish, haleem is said to have come here over the Mughal periodvia Iran & Afghanistan.

The entire cooking process spanning about 10 hours to 12 hours is done on firewood.

Haleen comes in all variants like Motton, beef, chicken, fish, vegetarians are having its own unique taste in various hotels.

  • Ginger & Garlic paste

Preparation of Haleem

Traditionally, Hyderabadi Haleem is cooked on low flame of firewood for up to 12 hours on bhatti.

It is served hot topped with a ghee-based gravy, pieces of lime, chopped coriander  sliced boiled eggs and Cashews roasted with ghee.
