Speaking to a TV channel, Peter said that he was shocked to learn that Sheena Bora is not Indrani’s sister.

Just as the fact that Sheena was Indrani’s daughter, and not a sister as was reported earlier, from an earlier marriage came to light via social media, Peter Mukerjea told TV channel CNN-IBN that Sheena was having an affair with his younger son from an earlier marriage and that Indrani didn’t approve of the relationship.

Indrani was arrested on Tuesday night by Khar Police on Tuesday night following questioning over her alleged role in Sheena’s murder. Maharashtra’s Raigad police had found Bora’s remains in a forest following which a murder case was registered against unidentified persons.

Indrani was produced before the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate court and was remanded to police custody till August 31, DCP (Detection) Dhananjay Kulkarni said on Wednesday.

“The case being more than two years old where there isn’t any DNA sample of the deceased or appropriate remains of the body, police is only relying on co-accused’s confession,” said an officer at the Khar police station.

Indrani’s driver, a co-accused who was picked by police a few days back in connection with the murder, too was arrested on Tuesday. During interrogation, the driver claimed that Indrani had killed Bora and that he had helped her in disposing of the body by dumping it in the Raigad forests, the officer said.

Raigad police had come across the remains of an unidentified body, which they had disposed of without collecting DNA samples, the officer said. Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria himself had interrogated Indrani at Khar police station.

The officer said they would take the two accused to the crime spot where the body was dumped.
